Surah Al Jumu`ah (Friday)
In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
- Everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies God the Sovereign, the Holy, the Almighty, the Wise.
- It is He who sent among the unlettered a messenger from themselves; reciting His revelations to them, and purifying them, and teaching them the Scripture and wisdom; although they were in obvious error before that.
- And others from them, who have not yet joined them. He is the Glorious, the Wise.
- That is God’s grace, which He grants to whomever He wills. God is Possessor of limitless grace.
- 5. The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah, but then failed to uphold it, is like the donkey carrying works of literature. Miserable is the example of the people who denounce God’s revelations. God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
- Say, “O you who follow Judaism; if you claim to be the chosen of God, to the exclusion of the rest of mankind, then wish for death if you are sincere.”
- But they will not wish for it, ever, due to what their hands have advanced. God knows well the wrongdoers.
- Say, “The death from which you flee will catch up with you; then you will be returned to the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, and He will inform you of what you used to do.”
- O you who believe! When the call is made for prayer on Congregation Day, hasten to the remembrance of God, and drop all business. That is better for you, if you only knew.
- Then, when the prayer is concluded, disperse through the land, and seek God’s bounty, and remember God much, so that you may prosper.
- Yet whenever they come across some business, or some entertainment, they scramble towards it, and leave you standing. Say, “What is with God is better than entertainment and business; and God is the Best of providers.”

| Huwal-ladzii ba'atsa fiil ammii-yiina rasuulaa minhum yatluu 'alaihim aayaatihi wayuzakkiihim wayu'allimuhumul kitaaba wal hikmata wa-in kaanuu min qablu lafii dhalalin mubiinin | هُوَ الَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي الأمِّيِّينَ رَسُولا مِنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِهِ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَإِنْ كَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَفِي ضَلالٍ مُبِينٍ | 2 |
| Waaakhariina minhum lammaa yalhaquu bihim wahuwal 'aziizul hakiim(u) | وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ | 3 |
| Dzalika fadhlullahi yu'tiihi man yasyaa-u wallahu dzuul fadhlil 'azhiim(i) | ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ | 4 |
| Matsalul-ladziina hummiluuttauraata tsumma lam yahmiluuhaa kamatsalil himaari yahmilu asfaaran bi-asa matsalul qaumil-ladziina kadz-dzabuu biaayaatillahi wallahu laa yahdiil qaumazh-zhaalimiin(a) | مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ حُمِّلُوا التَّوْرَاةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ الْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ أَسْفَارًا بِئْسَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ لا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ | 5 |
| Qul yaa ai-yuhaal-ladziina haaduu in za'amtum annakum auliyaa-u lillahi min duuninnaasi fatamannawuul mauta in kuntum shaadiqiin(a) | قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ هَادُوا إِنْ زَعَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ لِلَّهِ مِنْ دُونِ النَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ | 6 |
| Walaa yatamannaunahu abadan bimaa qaddamat aidiihim wallahu 'aliimun bizh-zhaalimiin(a) | وَلا يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُ أَبَدًا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ | 7 |
| Qul innal mautal-ladzii tafirruuna minhu fa-innahu mulaaqiikum tsumma turadduuna ila 'aalimil ghaibi wasy-syahaadati fayunabbi-ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maluun(a) | قُلْ إِنَّ الْمَوْتَ الَّذِي تَفِرُّونَ مِنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ مُلاقِيكُمْ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَى عَالِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ | 8 |
| Yaa ai-yuhaal-ladziina aamanuu idzaa nuudiya li-shshalaati min yaumil jumu'ati faas'au ila dzikrillahi wadzaruul bai'a dzalikum khairun lakum in kuntum ta'lamuun(a) | يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلاةِ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَذَرُوا الْبَيْعَ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ | 9 |
| Fa-idzaa qudhiyatish-shalaatu faantasyiruu fiil ardhi waabtaghuu min fadhlillahi waadzkuruullaha katsiiran la'allakum tuflihuun(a) | فَإِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلاةُ فَانْتَشِرُوا فِي الأرْضِ وَابْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ | 10 |
| Wa-idzaa ra-au tijaaratan au lahwan anfadh-dhuu ilaihaa watarakuuka qaa-iman qul maa 'indallahi khairun minallahwi waminattijaarati wallahu khairurraaziqiin(a) |
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا تِجَارَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوا إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَائِمًا قُلْ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ اللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِينَ | 11 |
